I’m not going to waste your time. These tips will not be ‘read the rules carefully’ or ‘use Grammarly before hitting send’. If you’re a writer who has submitted work, you’ll know about that already because we learn from our experiences.

But first, who the hell am I to give you advice? Well, I’m a fiction writer who has published five books. My work has been featured in more than a dozen anthologies, and I’ve been on the podium in 6 writing competitions (some of them with cash prizes). I’m also the creator and editor of the 21 Futures series, and I’ll be judging their next anthology competition.

Of course, I can’t guarantee you competition success — that’s down to the quality of your writing. But I can help you boost your chances of making the podium.
